The Rathbones are leaving :(

Noah and Adelyn's first meeting (outside the womb, that is)

Playing on the couch together at my house while Noah's mommy and daddy were packing

Reading Parenting magazines together to try to understand while their crazy parents act the way they do.

Hanging out at Megan's house with Julie

Playing in the Bumbo...Noah love's Addies toes!

Yummy!!

"Hey Mommy, what's he doing?"

Playing on the play mat. Noah was clearly interested in holding Adelyn's hand, and Adelyn was definitely preoccupied by getting some sun...typical.

Adelyn's first friend, Noah, and his family are moving out of Northern Virginia tomorrow to move to Williamsburg where Dave will be attending William and Mary Business school in the fall. While Adelyn is very sad to have her friend move away, I am a just in totally denial. I know that if I think about it for more than a minute I might have a major melt down and be a total wreck. Megan and I have lived only few minutes away from each other and have seen each other several times a week, going for walks, having lunch together, and just hanging out. She is my only friend in the area with a baby and has been a major support to me during this time. Our husbands make fun of us because we are constantly calling, texting, g chatting and emailing each other, in addition to seeing eachother several times a week. I just don't know what I am going to do without her, but again, I am not going to think about it too much. I just wanted to say that we are going to miss the Rathbones sooo much!!

House Shopping

Currently, Steven and I are looking for a new place to live. We have to move out of our current place b/c the rent is too high with only one steady income. Even if I worked full time, child care in this area is so expensive that we still couldn't afford to pay rent. So, we have been looking in Herndon, Reston, Fairfax, and Centerville, but haven't found anything we are really excited about yet. Please continue to pray for us as we seek out what God has for us.

Addie and Daddy looking for apartments online.

Looks like they might have found something....

2 months

Today Adelyn had her 2 month old appointment. She currently weighs 10lbs 9oz (50th %) and is 22 1/2 in long (just above 50th %). Everything checked out well, and the doctor was very impressed by her ability to bear weight on her legs b/c that it typically a 4 month milestone. I just thought it was something all babies did b/c she started doing it at such a young age (I think about 1 month old). She is a strong little peanut, althouh I could have told you that before she was born (those legs were quite forceful in my tummy!). She currently gets upset if she is held in the cradle hold and definitely prefers standing or looking over your shoulder...she wants to see what is going on around her. At her appointment, she also got the first set of her immunizations. Steven and I have decided to spread them out instead of getting them all at once, so she got 2 today and will get 3 more in August (instead of all 5 today). She has been OK so far today, I little bit more fussy, but not too bad.
I can't believe our little girl is already 2months old!!!

Newborn...still in the hospital

anniversary dinner

I forgot to mention an important part of our anniversary. A few weeks ago, I told Steven that I would make the dinner plans for our anniversary. I wanted to do that for him b/c he had been so busy at work. Well, I picked a place that was a little different and one that I thought we wouldn't go to usually. I told the hostess that it was our anniversary when I made the reservations, so when we got there, they greeted us with a smile and sat us at a very romantic table under a beautiful little canopy. It was a pricey restaurant, but we decided to not worry about it and just enjoy the great wine and deliceous meal. Well, while I was finishing up my meal, an asian stir fry, I noticed something that looked a little different from the asparagus or mushrooms that I had been eating. Actually, it had wings and 2 eyes...it was a very large bug!!! When the waitress came by, I pointed it out to her, and with a disgusted face, she apologized and brought the manager over. The manager proceeded to apologize profusely, let us know our meal would be free, and brought us two glasses of champaign since it was our anniversary. So, we got what would have been a >$100 meal, for free. Not bad, and I didn't care too much about the bug b/c I just thought about how Ashley has to deal with bugs all the time, and at that point, I had already had 2 glasses of wine. We have decided from now on we are just going to bring dead bugs to put in our meals when we want it for free. Not really, but it does make for a funny story!

3 Year Anniversary

Today is Steven and my 3 year wedding anniversary. It has been an amazing 3 years filled with many challenges and many joys. We have moved 3 times (and are working on our 4th), changed jobs, had a baby!, and much more. Looking back over the past 3 years the one thing that we see as the recurring theme is God's faithfulness. He has truly been faithful in all the different stages of our relationship, and we are excited to see what he has for our future. Thank you to all the friends and family who have supported us while we dated and in our marriage. Thank you for your prayers and your love. We could not be where we are today without the love and support that you all have given us. Praise God for his love that he shows to us through other people. Please continue to pray for us as we seek God's wisdom for this next stage in our lives.

Our engagement. We got engaged on January 26th (Megan Rathbone's birthday) at Boar's Head on a bridge overlooking the pond. It was wonderful and romantic, and I wasn't expecting it at all :)

Our Rehersal dinner. We had so much fun listening to everyone tell stories and sing funny songs.

Taking pictures before the wedding. We knew it wasn't the tradition way to do it, but it was lots of fun to see each other.

The traditional cake...

And the super fun UVA football stadium cake!
We had so much fun at the reception, dancing away.
On our honeymoon in Hawaii...ahh, that would be a nice vacation right now :)

And now our new family of 3. It is amazing how much has happenned in 3 years!

Charlottesville Fun

While we were in Charlottesville for the 4th of July, Adelyn also got to have fun playing with some of her aunts and uncles and meeting friends of Steven and me. Robby and Skip fought over who got to hold her, and she loved all the attention. She also showed everyone how she can stand, and she practiced walking a little. We had lots of fun!

Steven, Bram and Adelyn. I think it was a little strange for the long time friends to be holding a baby, let along Steven's baby!!

Adelyn was reading the card that Bram and Nadia wrote for her. She also helped open the present by pulling on the ribbon :)

Adelyn was having fun cuddling with Bram.

Adelyn loved hanging out with Nadia for the second time.

Adelyn was staring at Uncle Skip. She loves her uncles!!

Skip won the fight for who got to hold her, but it looks like Robby has Adelyn's attention :)

"Look Mom, one hand!" We love the fact that Skip can hold Adelyn in just one of his large arms.

We all had dinner together on Sunday night. Adelyn even got a few kicks from her cousin-on-the-way.

Adelyn was showing everyone how she is learing to walk...well a little early for walking, but at least how she can stand with just a little bit of help.

Look at that cute ruffle butt!!

4th of July

Last weekend, Steven, Adelyn and I went to Charlottesville in order to celebrate Veronica's naturalization (becoming a citizen) and the 4th of July. It was very special to celebrate with Veronica, as becoming a citizen is a very long and difficult process. After the ceremony, my parents had a party at their house in order to honor Veronica and celebrate the 4th of July. We had a great time, and Adelyn enjoyed being passed around to lots of family and friends. This Luck family was very patriotic and wore all red, white and blue!

Wake up Happy

Adelyn loves when someone comes to get her after her naps. She often gives whoever picks her up very big smiles and coos. When we were in Charlottesville, her uncle Skip said that he wanted to put her back to sleep just so he could go get her out of bed again. We should all wake up this happy. Enjoy her big smiles :).

(notice when I ask her if she had a good nap it looks like she nods her head "yes". Coincidence, but cute non-the-less)

Rolling Over

When we were at the River House 2 weeks ago, Adelyn rolled over for the first time. At first I thought it was by accident, but when she did it repeatedly for both Steven and me, I knew she was really trying to do it. We could never get her to roll over when other people were watching, but we finally caught it on video. She is such a determined little girl :)

Little Girl Wood

My brother, Robby, and his wife, Claire, are expecting a little girl, due in the beginning of September.  We are all very excited, Adelyn in particular because this will be her first baby girl friend.  As you may have seen from the earlier post, all her friends right now are boys :).  Robby just sent me some sonogram pictures of baby girl Wood, and you can already tell she is absolutely adorable!!  We at the Luck household just can't wait to meet her!!!

Her first smile!!  What a cutie!
